What will your CRS score be after November 3?
IRCC is changing how Express Entry scores Canadian work experience and job offers. Enter your profile to see your score before and after, side by side.
What changes on November 3, 2026
- A new Labour Market Integration factor replaces the Canadian work experience points.
- Canadian experience in a high-wage occupation adds 20, 40 or 70 points on top of work-length points.
- A job offer in a high-wage occupation gives 50, 70 or 100 points, and no LMIA is needed.
- The two routes do not add up. You get the higher one: up to 150 points (140 with a spouse).
- Invitation rounds pause for up to two weeks while IRCC recalculates every profile.
Questions
Is a high-wage occupation based on my own salary?
No. IRCC uses the median wage of everyone in Canada working in the same NOC, compared with the average median wage of all workers. Your own pay does not change the level.
Do Canadian experience points and job offer points add up?
No. IRCC calculates both routes and gives you whichever is higher. For example, one year of experience (40) and a level 1 job offer (50) gives you 50, not 90.
How many extra points does high-wage experience give?
70 points for 12 months at 2× the median, 40 points for 12 months combined at 1.5× or higher, and 20 points for 12 months combined at 1.3× or higher. These come on top of the normal work-length points (up to 80, or 70 with a spouse).
Do I still need an LMIA for a job offer?
No. From November 3, a qualifying job offer does not need an LMIA, and an LMIA no longer gives extra points. An officer checks that the offer is genuine when you apply for PR.
What should I do before November 3?
If you have a job offer in a high-wage occupation, add it to your Express Entry profile. IRCC's online form still asks for an LMIA. IRCC says to answer Yes, LMIA number 00000, issue date 2026-01-01 and expiry date 2029-01-01.
What if the list changes after I get an invitation?
IRCC keeps the level that applied on the date you were invited.
Does skill transferability change?
No. Skill transferability still uses the length of your Canadian experience, even if the job offer route gives you more points.
